The Pangasinan—Tarlac Expressway or PTEX is a proposed project that will link the province of Pangasinan and Tarlac. It will start from the Municipality of Bani in Western Pangasinan and will end in Tarlac City and will further pass thru SCTEX. Western Pangasinan is one the developing trading hubs in the province of Pangasinan. It is expected to continue as the center of tourism and trading hub of agricultural products in the province. The proposed expressway will cut the travel time of 3 hours on the average from Tarlac City to Alaminos City in Pangasinan to only 1.5 to 2 hours. It will facilitate a faster and better logistics of different goods and services coming from Western Pangasinan to Metro Manila.
Every year, thousands of tourists are coming to Pangasinan to experience its different tourist spots located in the 1st district of Pangasinan. The province is also considered the country's top supplier of bangus. It produces an average of 16.588 MT of bangus annually and the municipalities in the 1st district such as Alaminos City, Agno, Anda, Bani, Bolinao, Dasol, Infanta, and Sual are also the major contributors in the production of bangus. Different aquaculture and agricultural products are also produced in the area.
Alaminos City is the home of the famous Hundred Islands National Park. The city will be opening soon its international airport. Anda has its white sand beach. Bolinao is also famous with its white sand beach, caves, and beautiful resorts. Bani is known for its sweet watermelon. It has also its tourist attractions like cave systems, white sand beach, waterfalls, and mangrove site for bird watching. Dasol is one of the major producers of clean salt in the province. Sual will also be opening its sea port soon. Bani will be the gateway because it serves as junction going to Agno, Alaminos, Anda, Bolinao and Mabini.
Another option or more of a proposal is the Nueva Ecija--Tarlac--Pangasinan Link Expressway or NETPLEX that will link the three provinces. It will start from the Municipality of Bani in Western Pangasinan and will end in SCTEX in La Paz, Tarlac City connecting it to TPLEX and the planned Central Luzon Link Expressway or CELLEX.
